A re-elected Coalition Government will provide $100,000 to Hawthorn Community Chest to fund a range of community projects that support financially disadvantaged people in Kooyong.

The funding will support the Hawthorn Community Chest’s ongoing work in our local community by providing funding for education and health support.

These programs support financially disadvantaged people, and will enable the Hawthorn Community Chest to continue and expand its important work in the local community.

The Hawthorn Community Chest has been operating in the local community for over sixty years. As an independent local charity, the Chest relies on a team of selfless volunteers to raise important funds and implement its programs.

As the patron of Hawthorn Community Chest I am proud to support the wonderful community work that the Chest does in Kooyong.

Hawthorn Community Chest can only carry out its important work with the support of the local community as well as many local businesses through its Business Supporter Program.

The funding will be made available through the Coalition Government’s Strong and Resilient Communities Program which provides grants to support local community organisations in their efforts to overcome disadvantage and solve complex social problems.

The Government has already provided funding of $36.6 million to support communities to become more resilient and inclusive through greater community engagement, participation and belonging in the local community.

Investments such as this in the Hawthorn Community Chest are the dividend of a strong economy and only made possible through sound budget management.
