On 27 August, I celebrated the 10th anniversary of Specialised Therapeutics Australia (STA) and unveiled their new headquarters in Kew, with Co-Founders Carlo and Bozena Zembrzuski Montagner and Tim Smith MP.
STA is an independent, international pharmaceutical company providing new specialist medicines to patients in Australia, New Zealand and across South-East Asia, with an expansive specialty drug portfolio spanning oncology, haematology, ophthalmology, supportive care and neurology.
The company is a start-up success story, beginning with one oncology product and has since successfully commercialized 11 specialty lifesaving medicines to market, employing 50 staff with revenue of $30 million. STA has also donated more than $21 million worth of drugs to patients on compassionate grounds.
STA is a stand-out in the pharmaceutical sector and continues to grow, providing employment and generating strong revenues and innovation in healthcare. Over the next decade STA plans to include in-licensing earlier-stage drugs, steering them through full clinical development and the global commercialisation of these products.
