$500,000 FOR HAWTHORN MALVERN HOCKEY CENTRE UPGRADE
The Hawthorn Malvern Hockey Centre is set to be redeveloped, thanks to $500,000 in funding from the Coalition Government.
The new look hockey facility in Auburn Road, Hawthorn, will include new female change rooms, a gymnasium, an expanded viewing area and improved spectator amenities.
Ten per cent of Melbourne metropolitan hockey matches (fixtured by Hockey Victoria) take place at the Hawthorn Malvern Hockey Centre.
The facilities are also used by thousands of students from both local and non-local schools and were recently used for an international tournament, with teams from Singapore and Hong Kong.
The Centre is home to the Hawthorn and Toorak East Malvern hockey clubs, with 1150 members between them.
Both clubs offer hockey for seven-year olds to 70-year-olds, men and women and at junior, senior, master and elite levels. The Toorak East Malvern club has the largest girls program in Victoria.
I am delighted to support this funding which will lead to improved facilities for our junior and senior hockey players.
Investments such as this in the Hawthorn Malvern Hockey Centre are the dividend of a strong economy and only made possible through sound budget management.
