THE HON JOSH FRYDENBERG MP
Federal Member for Kooyong
Treasurer of Australia
I am delighted to announce that Kew Little Athletics will receive $92,450 to upgrade the long jump runways at Stradbroke Park, in East Kew as part of the second $30 million round of the Coalition Government’s Community Sport Infrastructure Program.
The announcement was made today at the Kew Little Athletics Centre before more than 300 participants, supporters, family, friends, volunteers and athletes.
The Coalition Government understands that our success and prowess as a sporting nation begins with grassroots sports, which is why we have focused our investment on local grassroots sporting facilities such as the Kew Little Athletics Club.
As outlined in the National Sports Plan, Sport 2030, grassroots sports help drive increased participation and promote social, health and community benefits of physical activity and sport – a key priority for our government.
Sport plays an important role across Kooyong and the benefits of this Coalition Government investment in these facilities will be felt right across the community.
Sport 2030 recognises sport plays a significant role in Australia, from our biggest cities, to regional communities like ours in Kooyong.
The Coalition Government invested $280 million into sport and recreation in the 2018-19 Budget, with an additional $121.6 million in 2018-19, bringing the total 2018-19 funding for sport and recreation to $537.8 million.
