Community organisations in Kooyong can now apply for a share of up to $20 million in funding to support the efforts of their volunteers.
Grants of between $1,000 and $5,000 are available to help community organisations in Kooyong to buy equipment such as laptops, pay fuel costs, train volunteers and improve their fundraising.
The Turnbull Government recognises that Australia’s 8.7 million volunteers and their organisations are the backbone of community life.
26% of people living in Kooyong volunteer – the highest number of volunteers in metro Melbourne. From delivering meals on wheels, supporting people with dementia and the homeless and supporting our local sporting clubs and schools.
Volunteers are the lifeblood of our society and by continuing to help each other and work together we are building a stronger and safer community, reducing social marginalisation and increasing community participation.
I encourage all not-for-profit organisations in Kooyong to apply for the Volunteer Grants to help make the work of our volunteers easier, safer and more enjoyable.
