Investment in sport infrastructure to build stronger communities

Media Releases

Date : 19 August 2018

Sporting clubs in Kooyong can now apply for funding though the $29.7 million Community Sport Infrastructure grant program aimed at upgrading community sport infrastructure.

Grants of up to $500,000 are available to upgrade sporting infrastructure at local clubs, to improve facilities and increase participation in community sport.

Sporting facilities are vital for encouraging physical activity and health, and for building community spirit and pride.

Australia has a proud history of producing outstanding athletes who excel on the world stage and this program gives our local clubs and organisations the ability to invest in facilities that help to create the champions of the future and enable local residents to remain active.

I encourage local sporting and community groups to identify projects that could enhance our local facilities in Kooyong. Even the smallest of projects can have a big impact on boosting local business, economy, health and social cohesiveness.

The program will be managed by Sport Australia, the Australian Government’s leading agency for sport and physical activity.

Applications close on 14 September 2018. More information and program guidelines can be found here:
