Kooyong Giving Tree

Out and About

Date Posted : 27 November 2019

Since 2012 our community has shown the best spirit of Christmas by donating generously to the Kooyong Giving Tree appeal, which supports Servants Community Housing in Hawthorn and Kew. With your generosity, we have raised $75,000 in cash, gift vouchers and in-kind donations for the work Servants Community Housing do in providing affordable accommodation and safe housing.

In addition to supporting Servants, this year the appeal will also seek to assist communities affected by drought.

Supporting Servants Community Housing
For more than thirty years, Servants has been providing safe and affordable accommodation for some of the most vulnerable members of our community. The residents at Servants are given security, hot meals and the dignity of a home.

As we approach the Christmas season, I encourage local residents, community organisations and businesses to support Servants’ important work. You can donate cash, vouchers and non-perishable food items, including Christmas puddings and cakes, as well as essentials such as new clothing, blankets and toiletries, for men, women and children. If you would like to make a tax-deductible cash donation, please note that cheques should be made payable to Kooyong Giving Tree – Servants Community Housing. Cheques and gift vouchers can be posted to my electorate office at 695 Burke Road, Camberwell 3124.

Donations can be dropped off at my electorate office until Friday 20 December 2019, in time to be delivered to Servants’ residents before Christmas Day.

Supporting drought affected communities
Two-thirds of Queensland and 95 per cent of New South Wales have been affected by drought. I saw first-hand the devastating impact the drought is having on families, farmers and businesses during my recent visit to drought-affected communities. You can support those who are doing it tough by donating to the Australian Rotary Districts Drought Appeal here.

If you have any questions about either of these campaigns, please do not hesitate to contact my office on 9882 3677.

Thank you once again for supporting these important initiatives to help those in need.
